In over 20 years in this town we have had experience with different a/c contractors. We have always been very pleased with Durham & Sons. They were great when our old central air died several years ago in the middle of the summer, installing a temporary unit while the new system arrived. After that, they have always been responsive when needed. Recently it was an emergency situation on the 4th of July weekend which they resolved without delay. Their crews are polite, professional and reliable. We highly recommend this family operated business.

Highly recommend Durham and Sons. We arrived home late in the evening after traveling to find our AC had stopped working. The next morning, I chose to submit an online request for service at the Durham and Sons website based on the great reviews other customers had posted. Durham and Sons met and exceeded my expectations. They called me shortly after my online request was submitted. Their tech was at my house within an hour of that call. And he had the problem diagnosed and fixed in less than an hour. Really exceptional.

Well I contacted D&S after seeing that they had the most (and best) reviews on Angies List. I was able to get a next day appointment and the technician was here right on time. It was a nice touch that the office called in the morning to let me know to let me know the tech was on his way. Shortly after that the tech called to give me an exact time of arrival. Their communication was great. My HVAC system is pretty old and had never been serviced. The tech (Clayton) was very knowledgeable, professional and kept me informed of everything he was doing. There were some old electrical items that needed to be replaced (which he showed to me and explained to me why they were bad). My system was also very low on refrigerant and a few other maintenance items. Since I now have an annual service agreement with them, they will be back out in 6 months to see how the temperature is holding. Since my system is pretty old, he even suggested to not do a few things that I had asked him about and to wait until they were back out to see if it would be worth it. Great service and great tech! They also do refrigeration and electrical work which I will be calling on them soon for that as well.

I was the only problem, as I did not keep my phone with me as I was vacuuming, trying to clean up some clutter before anyone arrived. I almost missed out on getting to work with Durham and Sons, but they showed me a lot of grace and professionalism even as I wasted some of their time as they diligently knocked on my front door and I failed to answer it the first time. The tech drove back to the house and I really appreciated his patience. So please don't be as negligent as I was. Keep your phone with you at all times because you do not want to miss out getting to work with this fantastic company.

He said our unit was old, but not dead yet. He said to contact D&S when we were ready to replace. We were astounded there was no pressure with this first visit and happily made mental notes to put these guys on our list to call for quotes when we did replace. Our repairman even suggested given the location of the leak what kind of specialist to call. He was correct and we were thankful to catch something quickly that could have horribly gone wrong. Fast forward a few months... our AC started making a funny noise so we started researching companies to ask for quotes from. Life got busy and one day we found ourselves with no AC because we'd waited too long of course it was a weekend and my husband was out of town so I waited until he got back to call. Called D&S and they were able to send someone that very day (again!) the repairman was kind and eager to help. The AC had a leak and he was not able to find out where the leak was coming from. We knew this would lead to major expense, and we knew we didn't want to reinvest the money in a machine that only had a year or two left, so we decided to replace. The few companies that we contacted provided quotes for us, but D&S was the only company to come and inspect before hand (even though they had been out before)! We were impressed with their professionalism and determination to get the job done quickly, but also correctly. And that meant a few days wait - which they provided window AC units for us to use while we were down. Also, we had some issues with how the previous unit was installed. D&S took care of those and also suggested a few more fixes because THEY had issue with how it was installed before. We appreciate them wanting a job done correctly so that they can stand behind the product that they service. Price-wise, they are a bit lower than average for the unit we selected. We did have a quote that came in lower and could start and finish quicker, but the brand of unit was not to our liking. We paid for a 3rd party service to provide estimated retail trends in our area and they were lower than quoted by that service for the make and models we looked up. Their customer service is stellar. They treat you like family. I highly recommend Durham and Sons for service calls and also AC replacement. We are so happy to have found a company that cares about what they do, the products they provide and the manner in which they do all of it.
